KASHGAR, China — It’s been nearly 10 years since I last visited Kashgar, a city of 3.8 million on the western frontier region of China. Its airport is now five times bigger and is now a gateway to six international destinations. It now boasts of paved six-lane roads, quite an improvement from the bumpy narrow dirt roads that we took during my previous four visits.

Students dance during the Olympic torch relay Tuesday in Urumqi, China's Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region.

This time I return to cover the Olympic torch relay. In the early morning of June 18 I watch a contingent of Kashgar students practice cheering the arrival of the Olympic torch in this mainly Muslim city. “Go China,” they chanted, on cue. “Go Beijing! … Go Kashgar!” How odd, I thought. Kashgar people are normally more spontaneous than this.

The torch’s arrival here is a reminder of China’s rule over this remote frontier region. China hopes to show that it is a nation of diverse cultures and ethnic groups.

And for Kashgar, it’s a chance to showcase their exotic culture to attract more tourists and investors. More than 80 percent of Kashgar’s 3.8 million people are Uighurs, a Turkic-speaking, traditionally Muslim ethnic group. Here East meets West, and communism coexists with Islam.

“By choosing Kashgar as a relay stop,” Kashgar’s parliament chief Zinet Emer tells me, ” the central government has given us tremendous importance.”

But this was a particularly sensitive leg of the relay, given the tensions between China and the disgruntled Uighurs– some of whom are seeking independence from Chinese rule.

Heavy security was in place to prevent protests during the torch run. The government banned all but carefully chosen members of the public. Twice, police meticulously checked us – journalists and our gear – just as they do at the airports. “We normally don’t do this,” Emer tells me. “But those (anti-China) groups overseas have thrown jabs at us so we must hit back with a big punch. We must safeguard everyone’s safety.”

More than 200 torchbearers took turns parading the torch through Kashgar’s main streets. Along the route, residents cheered them on, shouting pre-approved standard slogans. “Go, China!” … But we only witnessed the relay of the last seven torchbearers because authorities confined us to a designated press section on the sprawling People’s Square. There, the carefully planned pageantry ended with songs and dances, under the close watch of Chinese police.

As in my previous visits, Kashgar impressed me with its distinctive culture and endearing hospitality. But the extremely tight security today leaves a bad impression: it highlights the differences between the public face that China wants to present to the world, and the tense reality on the ground.

I wonder what it will be like when the Olympic torch relay reaches Beijing on August 6, two days before the start of the 2008 Olympics.

To CNN Beijing,
We just flew into Hong Kong yesterday to see the Pre-Olympic facilities in our own Jets fron the US on A Round The World flight and were denied access to China airspace.Since we had Visas we decided to fly commercial from Hong Cong to Beijing so we would at least see Beijing. As we were getting ready to board the commercial flight we were then told and our boarding passes pulled that we could not fly into Beijing as our Visas were for flight crews only and not allowed without us flying our own planes.
If this is what Americans can expect in coming to the Olympics in Hassles from Communist China then I urge all Americans to stay home and watch how the Communists are manipulating who comes into China.
BOYCOTT NOW as President Busch should also!!!!!

I’m a university student in beijing.Just as it mentioned ,China hopes to show that it is a nation of diverse cultures and ethnic groups. And on the torch relay,it/s extremely important to make sure its security .
it is a fast developing country and a lot of uncertain destructive elements exist.
only an Olympic with security is a meaningful Olympic

ChinaDaisy   July 8th, 2008 1937 GMT

Butch, before you flied “your own Jets A Round The World flight”,had you checked the right laws and regulations towards your jet’s “accessing to China airspace”? And if you had, you should have prepared yourself with getting a tourist visa or business visa, so you could have easily visit Beijing on that visa freely. Or you could have found a visa broker in Hong Kong to get the right visa.

As an American, you should feel lucky that you can get a Chinese visa easily at least if you follow the right process. For a Chinese, it is extremely hard or impossible for a Chinese to get an American visa to visit the US. Should Chinese be mad at the US government for forbidding their US visits?

kaidong wang   July 8th, 2008 2329 GMT

To Butch Stevens,
Many in the US have been apparently supported, planned, funded the anti-Chinese violence in China and around the world in recent months. Just as the US government, it has tightened up security to protect its people from terrists. You may not be a terrorist. So u stay and be happy.

Tonny   July 9th, 2008 129 GMT

A security screening to filter out bad elements (such as those terrorists and criminals who kill people in Tibet) is not exactly “manipulating”. Keep the guests and the Game safe is the host’s responsibility. The Game in Bejing was voted by the majority of the nations in the world eight years ago. The US voted against it. A boycott by the people of the US is not unreasonable or unexpected. It is up to the US Olympic Committee to invite the President to go to the Game to cheer the US team. So if he does not go is just to boycutt the US Team, nobody else, ok? Getting mad is not good for your respiratory and cardiovascular systems, especially for eight years long. You stay and take it easy, ok?
Why CNN would not post my comments? Dont get mad.

Tonny   July 10th, 2008 307 GMT

To ChinaDaisy,
It is wrong to ask an American to feel lucky for getting a visa to China. In the past, (before the Communists), an American did not need a visa to go to China! China was then divided into many colonies. Anyone (from the west and Japan) could go whenever, and whatever he wanted. It was kind of their right, my friend, not luck. On the other hand a Chinese visit to America has always been regulated by laws and regulations, which has never been easy. If u don’t understand, please read about American immigration history and its laws, etc. So its ok for Butch to get mad, but not for u.

Today, we are who we are based on either Darwin evolution theory or Creation. In Darwinism, the evolution determines who we are today. America is undeniably the most advanced society in human history, which may implies Americans fit the best (at least for Butch and Dalai). Those who are less fit (for example, people like you) should expect difficulties, needless to say for a visa. In creation therories (Tibetan Budism is one of those therocracies, e.g. 95% of the population are born to be surfs, who are not even allowed to speak), the traditional American documents (under which Butch has been brought up) about equality actually did not include all (read the Constitution correlating with what actually happened at the time and now). Now u know why a visa should not be easy for you. So, u, ChinaDaisy, are the one should feel lucky if one were given to u.

The Game is to show American athletes are the best, which has been shown again and again. There is no reason to repeat this show. Boycott is not unreasonable. Do you understand now?

More over, not every body needs to get into China. CNN did not. Cut and paste had already made nice news on the thugs and goons anyho. Right, CNN? You don’t really need to see what really happens, you just know it (or make it), right? Jamie FlorCruz from CNN does not like the Game in Bejing, why doesn’t he stay? Post this. I try to make ChinaDaisy not so dizzy and stop wasting his time. CNN is not wasting its time, it is doing a fun job influencing the public with certain agenda. You, ChinaDaisy, could have been doing something better.

No reason to get mad or dizzy, ok! Stay home and watch both the Communists and CNN manipulating the news, ok?

ChinaDaisy   July 10th, 2008 454 GMT

To Tonny,

Were you just trying just to be humorous? It is impressive that how you view the western powers’ ” glorious” invastions into China in 1900, slicing China, so the westerners could had no-visa access to China. I have been wondering why the westerner have been defaming the China communist party. Now it seems clear to me. Is that because that the communists drove the western invaders out of China so the westerners couldn’t enjoy the non-visa free access stuatus to China any longer?

It seems that you use how easy for a country’ s citizen to get a visa from a foreign country to determine his degree of worshipfulness. Have you read news recently? The US began to issue tourist visas to Chinese, even if the visas are very strictly regulated, since last month( June 1st, 2008) and Chinese tourists visited the US for the first time ever since the communists set up PRC. Now in Butch’s case, he was mad for being letting in by China. How does that apply for the Darwinism? China follows the trend to develop itself? What about the US?

Since the Westerners and Japanese got non-visa to China, it has been almost one century. Now it is important to have correct self-estimation, and stop dreaming how superior to others you WERE in the past in order to keep happy. The world is evoluting itself all the time, but for different things, the speeds are different, I guess. So now the world is a different order.

In the last Olyjmpic Games, the US was best, and China was the second. What will happen in the next Olympic? I will cheer for Chinese athletes, I will also cheer for US athletes.

It sounds beautiful to “Stay home and watch both the Communists and CNN manipulating the news?”, I will do the same. But somebody has to be there to get the sources for you to cut and paste.

White G.A.   July 10th, 2008 1828 GMT

I am profoundly disturbed that French usurper of democracy , free speach and mouvement, SARKOSY had planned 3 mnoths ago to attend the opening ceremony of the predominantly chino-deadly influence in Burma, Vietnam, Laos, Tibet, Nepal, Sudan, Tanzania, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Tchad, Ethiopia, Cambodia, ETC Olympic Games, and had publicly declared at the same time that he would be available only if china modified their attitude and respect towards basic human rights!

Tonny   July 10th, 2008 2159 GMT

Well said, ChinaDaisy,
But I just want to try to have every body calm down. I try to help u to understand others persects. You see both Darwinism and creation are the foundation for certain people standing on “the moral high ground” (remember the call by congressman and women?) and to scald others as thugs and goons (remember CNN). Butch got mad, so the people of China got scared but luckily, Butch only flew a passanger jet (not a bomber). My friend, you heard him saying “MADAMERICAN… I urge all Americans to …”. (America is “one nation under the God” and since when it is under Mr. Butch too?). Listen to him carefully again “…I urge all Americans…, bla bla”. Butch’s threat. I think you China people got scared, didn’t you? What the Chinese do wrong to him?

In the case of FlorCruz from CNN, he already predicts the Game will look bad, saying, “… But the extremely tight security today leaves a bad impression: it highlights the differences between the public face that China wants to present to the world, and the tense reality on the ground.” And why Kashgar, “the disgruntled Uighurs– some of whom are seeking independence from Chinese rule”? Now you see clearly security is not whats in CNN’s mind, they are expecting (hopfully no making) some riots for the game agani. You see China is composed of 56 differenet peoples, a wave of independency movement can shake it up to 56 countries. The process although will be bloody (all civil wars are, American’s, Russian’s, even Iraq’s) but will provide a lot of materials for CNN to paste and cut – job security at cost of human security. What did the Chinese do wrong to FlorCruz to deserve his curse? Don’t blame FlorCruz either, he is just making news, his job.

Don’t get me wrong, America is the most successful (and powerful) nation in the world history that we know of. It has embraed hundreds of different people around the world. It embraces all kinds of people, bad and good, peace-loving and war-liking, brilliant and not so smart. Together they make a great country called America. Undoubtedly the World has been better because of America. If Americans stand on high ground, the World is better off, so will be China. I pray that the Americans have better wish for the Game in Bejing. Hopfully Nancy, CNN and Butch do not present American’s views. Afterall the Game is only a big party of all the people of the world (Americans included, terrorists are not).

Calm down, my friend. I am trying to be impartial here, ok? All the Chinese do wrong is that they started to eat three meals a day (they earned but at cost of the world food shortage). It should be easily corrected. Work with me, OK? Daisy, would u please stay home and go back to your one-meal-a-day (make few toys too), so CNN will be happy and leave you alone! Open the door, so Butch would continue to fly passanger jets (no bombers). Better yet, elect Dalai as the Chairman of the Communist Party, so he is not to kill other people in China. Howerve, I cannot predict that you people will get to the same high ground as Nancy, CNN and Mad Butch. There is no extra space for u, but you survive! Ok?

Nancy, Mad Butch, CNN and I cannot see the future of the World, we just make it.

ChinaDaisy   July 11th, 2008 357 GMT

To Tonny,

In any case, I percept that you are very insightful, knowledgeable about China, Chinese history and the world. Frankly, I would NOT use “scared” to descripe my feeling at Butch’s angry posting. My first impression was that Butch was an local American Floridian who live in a simple easy life of luxury and privilege and takes everything for granted, or who views the world beyond the small town he lives through a small glass of box in his living room, or who has not travelled extensively to know that trouble is actually anywhere for you to accept with a peaceful mind. But I guess you just tried to be humorous or ironic by using the word”scared”, didn’t’t you? I hope Butch doesn’t get mad at me for bluntly speaking myself.

Why do Uighurs want to get independence? My understanding is that they are of a different race from Han , one valiant pride boastful one, and they feel bad to be ruled by a country with a majority of Han race whom they somewhat despise. About ‘a wave Independence movement can shake it up to 56 countries”, I don’t t think that will happen as long as China is under the communist party’s rule. They have been very successful in unifying 56 different brother-sister races of China as one “Big Family”. If things go wrong, they are powerful in stamp the trouble out. Remember that the China communist party has many powerful propagandizing “mouthpieces’ and in recently years, they created a theory of “Three Representatives” to refresh their image. They have trained a skillful equipped police and sound military. Moreover, China is in a one-party dictatorship system, which sometimes make the actions very effective.

Do you know that Chinese are very friendly to Americans? Chinese admire the US for many things like the human rights, freedom of speech, high technology and so on. The country of America is very mysterious to most Chinese as most of them have no chance to visit it so far. In the past three decades, China has been in a painful transfer from communism to capitalism and opening up to the outside world. A vast of things including economic, cultural, moral and traditional changes happened meanwhile and the social transfer caused many pains and turbulent and unsafe feelings to the Chinese spirits. Holding the Olympic games is one way to show the world what China looks like at present and how much it has achieved in the past decades. It is a big event for a people who had been struggling to upgrade itself from being crashed at the bottom of the world for hundreds of years by foreign invasions, bloody warlords, civil wars, stupid domestic political events like Big Step Forward, Cultural Revolution etc., and deep-rooted poverty. Holding the games is a process to gain confidence, improving itself and winning over friends. The Games means a lot to Chinese people. Americans have been in the top of the world, so it might be hard for them to understand Chinese in this regard.

It is actually a good piece of advice to take one meal one day. After getting some degree of respect from others and some financial status, people normally get arrogant and fatty by eating too much junk food. So eating one meal might be a good warning to keep health.

Regarding Butch’s refusal of getting into China airspace by China, I didn’t’t try to search for the related information, so I don’t know why China refused his jet. It is likely that apart from safety considerations, China is NOT as advanced in civil aviation system as that in the US (China has not made one single civil airplane so far). Is there a space for him to land his jet in China? Besides the commercial airports, I guess there is no civil airport for private airplanes in China so far. Has he discussed with some commercial airports in China about landing his airplane?

BTW, to be frank, CNN is notorious now among the Chinese people for its habit of cut and paste, so it needs to put the whole picture unless CNN doesn’t care how Chinese people view it.

Tonny   July 11th, 2008 518 GMT

ChinaDaisy, is this coinsidence? Today, twenty days after FlorCruz reported the above story, CNN reported this:

Story Highlights
NEW: Human Rights Watch casts doubt on China’s crackdown
China says smashes 5 groups on suspicion of plotting to attack Olympics
82 arrests in autonomous region, home to a Sunni Muslim ethnic minority
The Beijing Olympics begin on August 8.

Isn’t this obvious that the CNN is building up another line of story again. If not were for the blood sucking earthquake interrupting, the Tibetan line would have still been going. They called the quake Karma. A karma of eighty thousands plus deaths. You see, the Game kills! And CNN is expecting it. Aren’t you scared? China’d better quit the Game to save lives, ok? Their glory seeking hosting the Game has nothing good to look at but humiliation for them. And say sorry to Mad Butch. Pay CNN, they are business people and specialize in profitting. Pay them a lot if you pay dollars (it aint worth much anyway), ok? Koutow to Chairman Dalai Lama, so u wouldn’t become a serf in the next life (dont be a lama either. Be a CNN reporter, ok?).

For a few Tibetans, the mission is accomplished, right? Parisans have other interests. Mad Butch was denied entry. Now its Uighurs’ turn. Who is the next in the plan? Could FlorCruz predict or shed some clue? Follow him, ChinaDaisy, he knows where the troulbe is!

So here is what I recommend: stay home, keep an eye on FlorCruz, eat only one meal a day, manufacture fewer toys (don’t use lead paint – good for the children and the environtment), … Lower blood sugar, lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol, Don’t get mad, don’t get fat, Bla, bla….

They say, “freedom is not free” (whether u ask for it or given). It was not free for the great Americans. Therefore, the not-yet-so-great Han people will probably have to pay more. Be friends with CNN and they can help. Pay them and they can make u look good by cutting, pasting, sniffing, … (at least stopping calling you guys goons and thugs. I dont like these words, do u?). Come on, lets face it. The moral high ground is already taken, and the last spot was given to Dalai Lama’s brother. None left for u, u goons and thugs just pay it for nothing, ok?

BTW, Daisy, can you get Peking duck in MacDonald in Bejing? Treat FlorCruz a dish of Uighur duck and make friend with him so he can help u when you Daisy people are ready for some clue, ok? Dalai Lama will be back on earth by way of reincarnation according to his peaceful theorology, so he will never leave the moral high ground. Wait for others who want to leave for heaven, so u may have a turn in the moral high ground, ok? May God bless the high ground people and u. Pray for him taking you all to Heaven and leave Dalai Lama alone. Eighty thousands earthquake killed people are up there waiting for u all (actually I am not sure where they are waiting – may be the other place. Does CNN know?).

CNN: POST THIS. I AM PREACHING.

Tonny   July 11th, 2008 556 GMT

Thanks Daisy, I want to share with you what I just found about Dalai Lama:

Briefly, he was enlightened through private tutoring by a German advanturer (”Seven Years in Tibet” – a Nazi?); received higher degree in London (was it a doctor of philosiphy or something? I like Canadian’s better); became a citizen of Paris (so he wears Coach sandles and qualified for a French president candidate).

He is not a Doctor, although the Tibetans use to eat the Lama’s feces to cure their illness. This is not science by today’s standards and he only got Nobel price for politics not for medical sciences.

Since you guys are neighbors, tell me, do people of North Korea also eat Kim Song’s feces? Let’s face it we all eat some. I eat my boss’s. I have to. U eat CNN’s, ok?!

Yumama   July 11th, 2008 1504 GMT

To Butch Stevens: Visa is a privilege to enter a country, not a RIGHT to enter a country. Always remember that. When we (Americans) visit so called “visa free countries/territories” such as England, France, Japan, and Hong Kong, China, our attempt to enter could still be DENIDED by immigration officer for WHATEVER the reason he/she deems necessary to protect his/her country’s interests. Would you allow me to enter your house without invitation?

ChinaDaisy   July 11th, 2008 2223 GMT

Tonny, do you know the Dalai Lama sided with the communists after the communists took over Tibet? He toured the whole China and had dinners with Mao and wrote articles to praise Mao. His relatives who fled to India urged him to rebel against the communist rule and while he was hestinating, CIA promised him support and helped him in escaping to India.

In Tibet, feces of both human beings and animals is much cleaner and unpolluted than any other part of the world, which is why people there used to eat it or force their slaves to eat it! I guess it might have some religious meaning. The monks who ruled Tibet before the communists also used to have gifts of whole pieces of human skin. If CIA helped Dalai Lama to return his power in Tibet, CIA woud probably expect an unique gift, one piece of freshly decorticated
human skin, with a dinner of one hot piece of human feces, and one big piece of freshly cooked human meat. But under the communist rule, nothing like that will be offered for their enjoyment.

I have never heard of North Koreans having that culture or habit. Tibet was in slavery, but North Korea is just a dictatorship.

I can tell you, in China, we have much more economic freedom than the US, and I don’t have to eat any boss’ feces, I have been working for myself, so far. In China, anyone can set up a little business to work on his own. For example, a woman got fired from his work, she can immediately cook some dummings at home, put it into a box and ship the box to the nearby street by her bike, set up a stand to sell for little money there. While in the US, people would get arrested by the cops if they do that.

Tonny   July 12th, 2008 347 GMT

Daisy, I am a Canadian. The host is CNN, ok?

Excuse me! Am I the only one knew the multiple faces of Dalain Lama and his behavior (thanks to the internet, the information is available to all)?! I learned that one of the old customs of Lamas’ is gang raping their female serfs with their house guests (I don’t think the movie “Seven Years in Tibet” revealed that, although the German looked a bit tipsy) for entertaiment/enjoyment for the guests? I discussed this with one of my colleagues here, a Tibetan freedom supporter, who argued back by saying “maybe those like to be raped, the Chinese just don’t know”. Sarkozy or Mercle (the German lady) seem to know (look at their enthusism in supporting Dalai Lama’s independency). My observation is that no matter what the truth is, only CNN provides unbiased news reports (whether cut or pasted). Ok?

What did it feel like to be gang raped by their masters? What it feel like to be skinned to celeberate Lama’s birthday. What it feels like to have hands or tongue cut off by my master Lamas? From the literature, the monks are said to have superb/extrodinary sexual skills (his Holy fxxx, you know). What is the significance of those practices on their female serfs in gaining these skills? What has been Dalain Lama doing sexually after left his female serfs in 1959? Does he practice anymore? Does CNN know? Does his friend, Sharon Stone (she said she is his friend) know? Is homosexual activity popular among the Budism religion? Some movies in Holywood promote that , although I like Richard Geer’s “Pretty Women” (or “Pretty Serf”? Whatever!). Is homosexuality allowed in the old Tibet (there was no legal issue in old Tibetan Serfdom – we all know that the Lamas had non-contested authority – peaceful – pure – democratic – human right – Lamas’ right, … bla bla, whatever)? Does homosexuality replace raping? How is the Tibetan theocracy equivalent to democracy? Or does democracy evolve some too? CNN knows, right? One may really wonder if Tibetans want to go back to their theocrasy. If they do, will the French or Germen guarantee anesthetics for those nasty Lama procedures. How about the anticoagulating techniques? The skin would look differently if the blood is not drained completely. You see, I got to worry about these details for people who only watch (the Human Rights Watch).

From the West, I am curious at the academical level, ok?! We are creative, ok?! I invented the internet (maybe Al Gore did it alone), ok?!. You invented paper and fireworks only – that’s it. We got the rest, ok?! We invented cars, airplanes, rockets, semi conductors, locomotives, electricity, missles, atom bombs and the peacefulness of the Dalai Lama (the Nobel Prize is for winners not for losers, ok?!). Did we also discover the moral high ground? I mean, invented, er? ah? whatever!

I have to admit that sadly I never heard of the cleaness and purity of Dalai’s feces. Do you have any data to share? Please, please? I beg of you. To my knowledge, from normal human colon, the feces contains mostly bacteria. Over 98.76% of the dry weight of the feces is actually of dead bacteria. You die if u eat mine (I may have the mad cow virus from the beef)! What happened to these bacteria in Dalai’s belly? How do these turn to be therapeutic? Or are they therapeutic only for me too? Or the serfs had no cure from anything else but his Holy crap? Would it help Sarkozy? How about his Holy urine? Is there any theraputic effect to it, too? What kind of effects do normal people expect from eating these? Is his holy crap still pure after he left Tibet? Does Lamas’ feces treat ovarian cancer, or breast cancer, bla, bla…? How about ataxia, bipolar disease (the kind that Sarkozy has), etc.?

Help! Please share your data with me. I will work on it. I am going to make a deal with you to share my Nobel Prize for the discovery of the therapeutic components of his Holy crap – peaceful and medical – with you. Or I will take you as a PhD student for one of above topics.

Actually CNN has directed our attention to the Uighurs (do they have exotic feces too? Lets ask FloCruz) now. You guys only have 56 ethnic groups?! Potentially you can be divided (sliced in common words) into only 56 countries?! No match to Canada, we have hundreds from all over. But we call ours one nation, ok?! Dalain Lama, his Holiness wants to have 1/3 of China’s territory sliced for his Serfdom. Then what about the others? Did he discuss his plan with Uighurs? In the riots in Tibet, Tibetans killed the Muslims, too. Who get bigger and who get smaller? The world promotes freedom and independncy. We, the people in the moral high ground will be the judge, ok? But Quebec and Northen Irish are not different ethnics, ok?! They are Canadian and British, and also terrorists (lets review the old news from CNN), so they got crashed, killed, smashed, … whatever. Free Tibet (not Quebec or Northern Ireland), ok?!. Uighurs have “exotic culture” (according to FloCruz, from which school did she learned things?) and Tibetans have exotic feces (unpolluted, according to you, Daisy, I love your data, it makes business sense), so they got to be different and to have right to be independent.

BTW, what are you guys offering Sarkozy (the French President) on August 8? Get some for his lovely wife, too, ok?! Get what? Too bad, his Holy crap will be in Paris in August. Do the Uighurs have exotic feces? What about the Chinese environment? Are their feces badly polluted, too? The Uighurs’ must be cleaner, right? Is that why FloCruz is there? Does it taste as good? FloFruz will share some info very soon. Please be generous and offer some, ok?! Did the communists liberate those female serfs. too? Dann!

Daisy, stay home and stay tuned on CNN if you would like some more holy excrement (unpolluted). Free Uighurs!

Tonny   July 12th, 2008 711 GMT

Daisy, sorry, I missed your story about the woman selling dummings on the street. How come I never heard of this dummings? What are those? Are they exotic? Or exotic containing? Is she a liberated serf waiting for freedom? She surely would have been arrested here. Medicine needs to be approved by FDA – Food and Drug Administration – before sold in the pharmacy here, even if it were Holy crap containing. Unlike China, the Laws are very serious business here. We follow the laws and rules. The CNN said, you guys are goons and thugs who have never changed. Is she a goon or a thug?

You made me feel bad about myself. How come, I don’t know these kinds of things? Further more, my colleagues here, the Tibetan Freedom fighters, seem to know every thing about Tibet except its geographic location. Can you tell us where Tibet, Kashgar and Tawain are? They are not in China, right? It is important because Tawain is a good candidate on the next line in the CNN unbiased cut and paste? My colleague here who looks like a goon, (although real goons are all in your country per CNN) does not know where Tawain is, either. He was there once but long time ago.

Why the goons never change like the CNN said? No evolution for them? I thought that the only other species that never changes is the cockroach – for tens of thousands of years. I used them in the lab for studying the nerves system. I admire the CNN’s diagnostic ability. So the prognosis is that they will never get to the moral high ground! Anyho, similarly the roaches will not, either.

ChinaDaisy   July 12th, 2008 2142 GMT

A person from Taiwan toured and studied Tibet and got in touch with not only the lama, also the ordinary Tibetans. Later, he wrote an article about Tibet. I would like to translate an outline of what he wrote here.

In the process of 14 inheritances of the title of Dalai Lama, several Dalai Lamas died in their early ages because they fought and killed each other for power. So in 1792, the Chinese Qing Dynasty Emperor Chiarnlurng made the famous “Gold Bottle System” for selecting the Incarnated Lama Baby for the purpose of avoiding the lama inheritance fights.

Among the population of Tibet before the communists’ rule of Tibet in 1950, 95% are serfs and the remaining are Tusi( Serfs’ masters) and monks. At that time, each monastery owns large pieces of land and big quantities of serfs. The serfs are beslaved by birth. Whenever there was a fete, the serfs arms were cut off,and decorticated for the tribute service.

At the Dalai’s birthday, he would give orders to the monks to decorticate two kids as sacrifices. If you go to the historical museum in Tibet today, you can see one decortication order personally written by the 14th Dalai Lama before he fled from Tibet to India in 1950.

But whenever those illiterate serfs and sincere Buddhists got ill, they went to the monastery to ask for help from the Dalai Lama and the Lama would bestow his feces to the patients as medicine. The Lama’s feces was a kind of medicine for treating the patients and the Tibetens are crowded to collect the lama’ s feces for the purpose of treating illness.

When the slave masters entertained their guests, they would gangbang their female slaves together with their guests, which was a way of showing hospitality by sharing women with their guests.

In 1957, China government took on a land reform by taking away all the land from the slave maters unconditonally. They were ordered to hand over all pieces of land, release all the serfs and exempt all the debts. So in 1959, there was a rebel against the communist rule and then the Dalai escaped to India. But the Panchen Lama didn’t escaped as he supported the land reform.

The reform caused splitting between the ordinary Tibetans at the bottom of the society and the monk hierarchy. If you visit Tibet today, you can see that at almost each ordinery Tibetan and herdsman’s home,Mao’s photo together with the Bodhisattva are hung up for their routine oblation because they were slaves for centuries, and it was Mao who gave them freedom.

The current ethnic policies, educational, medical and housing in Tibet are all financially supported by the China government, which was why most Tibetans are not active in supporting independence.

While the monks and former Masters’ don’t shave the same view with the ordinary Tibetans, in their eyes, Mao was a criminal who deprived them of their land and serfs. Moreover, in several times of crackdown, their relatives were either jailed or sentenced to deaths by the government, so Mao was their enemy with deep hatred. If you get on the Lhasa street, you would find out all those active independent activits are descendants of either the lamas or former nobility.

Tibet is a in era of violent clash between the mordern civilization and theocratic culture. To uncover semblances of freedom, human rights and independence, you can see it is actually a conflict between mordern civilization and theocratic slavery.

Tonny, I heard from people who visited Tibet talking that feces from pigs and yaks in Tibet doesn’t smell and herdsmen in Tibet use the feces to wash their dishes and woks, Is that enough evidence to prove that Tibetan feces is much cleaner than any other part of the world?

I am not sure if feces from Dalai Lama is smelly, but it is supposed to be a herb in Tibetan medicine and the function of it is to cure vesania and to bring a dead person on his feet. Back in 1950, after the communists took over Tibet, the Dalai Lama went to Beijing to participate in National People’s Congress, and his serfs were carefully collecting his feces and urine for taking back to Tibet as medicine.

I am not sure how many dead people his holy’s feces has bought back to life so far, probably his friends like Stone would have the advantages to make a trial if she died. In Chinese(Han) medicine, the human feces or some Emperor’s feces is not a medicine.

Scientific data shows before 1950, the average life span in Tibet is 35.5years old, compared with 67 years old in March 2008. So people’s life has extended 47% after the communists’ rule, which probably in some way shows Dalai Lama’s feces is less effectively than Chinese medicine and western medicine.

In terms of the Chinese woman I mentioned, I am sorry I spelled the word wrong, the right word should be “dumpling”, not “dumming”. Do you know dumpling? It is a popular food in China, probably as popular as Pizza in the western world. If you set up a pizza stand on the street to make a business, will you still be arrested?

In early 80s, when China first transformed itself from communism to capitalism, many many laid-off workers from state-run companies went on the streets to sell things like clothes, ice scream, food, vegetable, grocery etc. to get survived. Many of those little business grew into a big successful business later. Street business is called” free market”. Till now, free markets in China is still booming.

Thanks, Daisy, I see the reason, now. That’s why the Parisans support him to get independent in Tibet, instead of in Paris. It make sense. They probably don’t think they would get used to the gangbanging part of the Lamas’ expression of hospitality, neither would people like to share their women with Lamas. You cannot do things like that to the romantic people! … Wait a minute, Daisy, how come you sounded like the communists and CNN doing the propaganda thinging?

Anyho! I had goose bumps all over reading the Taiwaneses description and I myself will never visit Tibet. I’ll just leave it for CNN to do the cut or paste. I just don’t want to go, ok?! Scared! If I have to, I’ll go via Afganistan (where Uighurs were from?).

But I cried a lot considering that the Tibetans are humans, too! Their anatomic features were said to be more close to Germans according to the results of the study of a German scientific expetition team sent by Hitler to Tibet in the late 30’s searching scientific evidence. It was theorized (hypothethized) that the Arian Nation landed on the Himalaya first. Well, you see, in those days, people sent scientists to Tibet and nowadays people sent reporters, like FloCruz (who barely made much sense!). Dalain Lama was reincarnated, a baby found outside of Tibet, not from Afganistan or Germany, but somewhere near Beijing, right? That’s why he thinks himself a Chinese, not a German or a French. Wait a minute, is he a goon, too? Nah.

Further more, the modern DNA technology traced the original recessive somatic genes of blue eyes from a pair of man and woman, whose children probably migrated out of Afganistan back twenty thousands years ago – close enough! Don’t you goons and thugs wish that Afganistan papa and mama had gone to the East instead of the West, so you would have a turn to look down on others calling people the goons and thugs?!

How does it feel to be called goons and thugs? I heard you guys felt insulted and “haven’t changed for the past 50 years”. We all change, at least “we want change!” Look at what that Afganistan papa and mama brought us – the discovery of the moral hight ground!

Tonny, are you a biologist? And you use cockroch to study the nerves system? What a coincidence! What is the connection between cockroches and the nerves system? Cockroches eat feces, and Dalai Lama’s feces can cure vesania(a type of nerves disorder, I guess), French President Sarkozy oscillated between going to participating in the Olympic Games and boycutting it and his words comflicted radically with each other just within a few days, and his newly married wife had her nude picture sold, so I guess it doesn’t explain something else but that the couple have a mental problem. I guess Sarkozy and his wife had been long aspiring for Dalai Lama’s feces as they know its effectiveness of Dalai Lama’s crap in curing craziness. So it is just a conspiracy to talk about Freedom of Tibet, everything is actually for his Holy crap!

Tonny   July 13th, 2008 159 GMT

Dumplings, er? See, you did some wrong again. Do you know the other meaning of dumpling in English is feces, the solid kind (not those from watery diarrhea).

This world is confusing, isn’t it? Dumpling is not feces (according to you). Hitler is not a German (people say he didn’t look like one). Dalain Lama is not a Tibetan (he thinks he is a Chinese and at least the French made him a Parisan). Sarkozy is not a French (a Hugarian) and he is not to boycott the Olympic anymore. Theocracy was not a democracy when America was born (remember the line of the seperation of the church and state in the constitution), so on and so forth. Who knows what is CNN?

Well, good-bye, Daisy.

There is a giant an abdominal nerve ganglion where synapses of the efferent and afferent motor nerve fibers connecting the leg muscles are located. The post-synaptic potential is easily recorded here while the leg muscle flexing and extending, sort of like reflexes. ension as A phenomenum called desesatization can be observe by the changes in the post-synaptic potential in relationship with the leg movement.

I am a sort of biologist, but that experiement is usually done in a physiology lab at undergraduate level (many years ago). Desensatization, is a regulatory mechanism in the nervous system estabalished through thousands of years of evolution. The cockroach has it (I saw the wane and wax of the potential). The CNN has it (it does care). Sarkozy has it (no shame). A universal mechanism, er? Ah? Oh? Whatever!

One of the clinical feature of bipolar diseas is spending money like crazy. How come, I saw the communists spend the money like crazy? Take the money back from Sarkozy, ok?

Tonny, so most things here ends up to be or connected with “feces”, either watery or solid! My native language is not English, some words don’t make their original senses to me. For instance, the Chinese version of “feces” would directly direct me to an image of a piece of stinky substance, but the English version doesn’t direct me there even if I know its meaning. Not sure what is the scientific basis for that.

Thank you,Tonny, it has been REALLY amusing! :) I cut and paste postings above to friends on MSNBC, hope you don’t mind.

Eric   July 16th, 2008 1833 GMT

Greetings Honorable Diplomats,

My body is Caucasian, my soul is African, and my heart is Asian. I am a citizen of the United States of America, but I have relinquished the concept of nationalism, due to enlightenment; a painful experience for a U.S. Marine. I hang an American flag outside my home and a United Nations flag on the inside.
I hang the U.N. flag because I agree with the model it represents, not because I align myself with its historic behavior. As a history teacher, I can point to no government that is without corruption. I can only stretch my eyes towards future horizons; hoping for a Global, Humanist, Republic.

It concerns me that the growing tensions between nations are due to the actions of rebels in the area of Tibet, China.

One of the barriers between eastern and western thought is that of ‘human rights.’ Many, on both sides, are confused by what ‘human rights’ means to the other. To the West, ‘human rights’ means protecting the individual, while in the East, ‘human rights’ means protecting the society. Both are well intended philosophies, and in a perfect world both might be applied equally.

I had the honor of taking a course on China, from a wonderful professor. He gave an example of the difference between Eastern & Western ‘human rights,’ which he had learned from his professor. I humbly share this; optimistic that it may be of use if you are not already familiar with it. If I have misunderstood any points of culture, please correct me.

An Example of Eastern and Western philosophies concerning ‘human rights’;

Western Human Rights:
You get on a bus with 20 other people. When it is time to get off you notice your purse/wallet is missing. You complain to the driver, who can do nothing. You call the police, who can also do nothing. In the West, regardless if one of the 20 passengers is a thieving-criminal, it would be illegal for a police officer to violate 19 other individual’s rights with a search.

Eastern Human Rights:
You get on a bus with 20 other people. When it is time to get off you notice your purse/wallet is missing. You complain to the driver, who immediately stops the bus and locks the doors. He calls a police officer (located on every block), who comes and searches each individual. When he finds the thief with the purse/wallet, the item is returned to you and the criminal is arrested.

CNN, thank you very much for making this site available for public inquiries and dialogues. Thank you all, also, for taking the time to read my lengthy and rambling letter.

I hope to visit China during a summer vacation someday soon; to marvel at its wondrous-everything, and share my experiences with American students.

Sincerely,
A Global Citizen,
Eric

ITS GOOD

Tonny   July 18th, 2008 2314 GMT

Well said, Eric. Glad you have spoken.

ChinaDaisy   July 23rd, 2008 508 GMT

Eric:

Thank you for the comments. Regarding the “Eastern Human Rights”, I would say that things gets more and more complicated nowadays in China. In that situation, I would say that in the past, the driver was likely to be very certain to stop the bus and call the policeman or himself to search for the thieving-criminal.

But nowadays, the driver would be very confused about what to do.

For one thing, for his own personal safety purpose, he would get more timid and careful. I read a news story a few days ago. One 45years old woman was sexually harassing man on a bus, she first just stepped aside, but when she saw the harassing man continued to harass other two young girls, she told the girls to be careful. Then the harassing man was pissed off and began to beat the older woman. The whole crowd on the bus including the bus driver just let the crime happening without stopping him or calling police. That was very shamful story of Chinese society, but the criminal could have taken savage revenge to anybody that tried stop the beating. Of course, if anybody called police, the police would have come quickly. But I am not sure how China police would act according to the law in that situation.

For another, the driver would be worried about the outcomes of his action. The driver would not be so sure about stopping the bus just because that one person’s purse is missing especially in big cities like Shanghai. People who are on the bus might have to catch an important meeting or get to work or something like that. So the driver would feel that he has no right to delay or waste other people’s time. If he did stop the bus, he might use a way to let the crowd to be released as soon as possible. If he does delay the bus, somebody on the bus might sure him or his company later for any losses because of delay.

And if the driver was sued for some losses owing to the bus delay, the issue might become a hot topic on the media and among the Internet users. Some people would support stopping the bus, and some people would oppose it. And then there might be a new law regarding this issue written annd put into practise.

That is what would likely to happen in China. China is now a flowing society, nothing is fixed. So when you visit China, thing might not go as the image in people’s mind about China.

Eric   July 29th, 2008 1521 GMT

You speak true. There are many exceptions and extenuating circumstances that can be applied to this particular comparison of ‘Human Rights,’ both East & West.

China is going through serious growing pains. It was once the jewel of human civilization, and I perceive that it will regain this status. When the Paper Tiger becomes real once more, may China remember nobility, grace, and forgiveness. The world raped, pillaged, drugged, and exploited this nation in recent history.

China needed a stern ruler to keep itself from death, but this caused a staining on its path through history. Tiananmen Square (1989), there was a protest for Democracy by youths that didn’t even understand what Democracy is, or why it was seen as a threat to the people with power, or why the soldiers only saw spoiled, rich, college nobles.

As a historical rule, China can not be conquered; it assimilates all that resides there. There is an underlying beauty that prolongs China, which defines its nature.

China has (and has had) it’s share of shame, because power corrupts the plebs and soldiers alike; which are motivated according to their appetites or their strength, respectively. Neither the masses, nor the military, should run the state.

After the Capitalist-Inoculation of Hong Kong, the virus of wealth & luxury spread quickly. I’m hopeful that China will embrace a true Republic, while keeping its inner honor and humanism.

After the Olympics, I believe China will begin assimilating Taiwan. I used to worry that they would do it with force, but China is becoming, increasingly, less militaristic.

I think things would go much faster, Darwinisticly speaking, if China’s biggest export became the Chinese. If China were to truly open The Wall, letting the people flow like rivers throughout the world, we’d all be Asian in two generations.

And that, would be one less thing for humans to kill one another over.

Sincerely,
Eric

P.S.
Over all, most people behave altruistically (for selfish reasons), because it increases communal production and security. There are also the vile and self-consumed, that exploits and victimizes the Hoy Paloy. Then there is the ‘sheepdog’ population, compelled to challenge corruption at the gate. I’m a master of many paths, and I’m genetically/environmentally predisposed to being a sheepdog. When the chips are down, I choose to do the right thing (whether I want to or not).

So by this, I should say that the “old woman” Victimizer should be very thankful that my 130 million brothers & sisters were not riding that bus with him.

P.P.S.
I like the name Daisy. It’s my mother’s Name.

Eric   July 31st, 2008 2007 GMT

Daisy, have you heard the song “Yellow Rose,” by Roger Waters (Pink Floyd). It’s really “Watching TV,” but Yellow Rose is in the chorus, so…It’s kind of like China-Daisy.

Anyway, it’s a very nice tune about how Waters had freedom defined while watching TV, in 1989 (Tienanmen).

As much as I like the artist, the song, and the message, it is undeniably a propaganda piece.

I’m for a Unified China, just as I am for a United-United States. Yes, the Confederate States had a right to break from the Union, but I’m glad they lost because America is stronger for it. I feel the same about Taiwan and Tibet, such that; both are regions of China.

It’s no coincidence that the most recent reincarnation of the Dali Lama, the goddess of Love Incarnate, was “discovered” on Tibet’s boarder with China.

Anyone that speaks of banning the Olympics, for a “free Tibet,” is unfamiliar with ‘business as usual’ in Tibet.

China taking over Tibet is a lifestyle upgrade for all Tibetans citizens. There’s not going to be any more book burnings in Tibet on China’s watch. Instead there will be labor exploitation to pay for the industry that will bring forth educated consumers. Sure, exploitation is bad, but it’s better than slavery under their former masters.
China is GOOD for Tibet. Once the Tibetans realize how much better things are under China’s rule, the only protesters will be the religious leaders (Tibetan Monks) that want to return to their princely lifestyles…and Hollywood Actors.

Plus, those rising computer costs might start going down again.

P.S.

The Darwinism is the theory base for the Westeners to lecture and scolding the Chinese, because the West has evolved to be the best therefore to stand on the moral high ground. For instance, CNN called the Chinese goons and thugs with only one apparent reason, e.g. they are CNN (so they are not goons and thugs).

However, the Evolution is somewhat about reproduction in its biological fundamental. This is probably also the process of humanitiy ever since humans became humans. The near future of this world is probably belong to the Indian people (s). One just needs to look the changes of the percentage of the growth of the world population: in the East, the Indian Indians are surpassing the Chinese in population; in the West, the Hispanics are taking over American (already done witht the South America); in the Europeis, its population has been dwindling since the wars.

The One-Child policy would diminish the Chinese as a nation (theoratically this will not sustain a species), which has never expanded outwards in the scale that the French, Germen and British have done (there more of these living outside these three countries). Xenophobia against the Chinese is really misguided. Just look at the facts: Isn’t it so clear that the Chinese have merely achieved a status of three meals a day by making shoes and toys for cheap? Their living environments have been destroyed and they will biologically diminish before they barely get to anywhere in this world. So why targeting the Chinese? They are so stupidly to host the stupid Olympic Games to kiss the world’s ass but got kicked themselves?!

To mislead the American public and creat the hatred and conflict between the two peoples may be part of the CNN’s own job creation. But Americans are somewhat smarter. Why would these Americans, Germen and French would risk their own lives to confront the shoe and toy making Chinese over the Olympic Games for restoring the Tibetan theocracy (”freedom” in their word). Are they out of their mind?!

Thanks to Al Gore. The Internet he created is providing means for the Chinese and the Westeners to understand each other instead of being manipulated by media such as CNN. Looking back, if there were internet, the WW I and WW II might not have happened? Long live Al Gore, so we don’t have to have WWW III.

I think it would be nice if the entire world goes back to one meal a day. For the Chinese, it will avoid the Westeners grumpiness and xenophobia (by leaving two more meals on the table for the Westeners). For the Americans, it will reduce obesity to promote disease free living. For the Europeans, one meal a day will enhence sexual performance and promote evolution (therefore standing on the moral high ground longer). Yep, that’ll be the solution! Right, every body?

ThreeMeals   August 1st, 2008 2254 GMT

One meal a day is not recommended for Mr. Cafferty. He looks malnourished. By history his alcoholism may be the underline cause leading to malabsorption. He needs three meals a day to stand on the moral high ground! Stay gooned!

“The Game is to show American athletes are the best, which has been shown again and again.”
someone needs to get their heads straight, obviously a false statement; and yes ChinaDaisy is correct about the 1900s and the opium war in which the western powers divided china.
Regarding the One-china issue; Tibet and Taiwan are officially part of China; the freedom fighters that support separation of those states must regard how hypocritical they are being if they are from the U.S; the United States has throughout history taken other territory and made it their own; has it not taken away the Indian’s land, Hawaii against it’s rulers, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands which are territory.
Now i’m not saying that China is absolutely correct here, but back to the topic, the government regulating the people and their views from outsider’s perspective; no i don’t see anything wrong with it; doesn’t the United States Government do the same? There are many people in the United States that have a negative opinion about their government; when i went back to China (i go back every few years) the level of happiness with their government when i talk to people (public polling) can be regarded the same; of course without regarding statistical comparison factors and standard deviations. .

From a just-graduated high-schooler that has represented China in the Model United Nations; views against China all have to do with the same things; humanitarian, Communism, Freedom of Tibet and Taiwan; the views of China are very limited, expand your views and make the country you live in the “perfect” country before trying to change another country’s policies.

This is not fair.

No wonder al qaeda are hitting on you. Even if they are muslims in xinjiang, they have chinese blood. So what is the problem. It is more odd when you travel to the United States. They ask for the finger prints outright when you step into their territory. They brand everybody as suspected terrorist outright because of their paranoia. That is what you call odd.

I can’t believe all this nonsense that I have just read. Not to offend anyone, but who cares about what happened in 1900 to the Eastern and Western worlds; I thought this was going to be a blog about the games, not about who is the better country. I am an American and believe and have faith in my country…but who am I to say that my country is better than any others? I don’t know all the facts about other countries, nor do I know of all the facts about America. I know that America is a country that accepts all people, foreign and domestic, and welcomes them.

I agree with Sister Horst, I cheer for all athletes and wish nothing but the best for them all! We do need to pray for the world…it needs ALL our prayers.

Totally disheartening to see our US Track and Field Team lose in just about every major event. They looked like they should have stayed home. Never in the annals of the Olympics history have we displayed a poor performance to let the whole world frown down upon us as our Jamaican Brothers and Sisters took the Gold that they deserved. This has to do with our education and sports programs in our schools today from Elementary to High Schools are children aren’t really required to take PE Physical Education this has been the rule since the 1990’s; now look at our obese and out of shape children of tomorrow. It’s a Sad day in America; when we take monetary funds out of school programs to fight the World on Terrorism. Bottom-Line; Our future generations “Won’t Be Able To Be Fit To Fight Anywhere, Anytime, or Anyplace; Let alone Terrorist in our own front yard. It’s a really sad day. As one of my friends so eloquently stated: Track and field has been dismal at best, appears that the crack down on performance enhancing drugs is separating the real McCoy’s’ from the decoys.
