American is a isolated nation like a frog sitting at the bottom of a well - the frog think the sky is just as big as the one he sees from the bottom of the well.
I believe many Americans simply don't have IQ high enough to learn Chinese.

it is so nice to know that the games wil not be interupted by any violent action but seeing those vehicels parked outside a building u have to also remember that those can be used to prevent reporters to go out and report on outburst of free speech.
on another isue i personaly just can congratulate the chinese organisation and the ioc for having so succesfully blackmailed the world on accepting severe breaches of the so called olympic spirit just to keep the games and the cash from advertisment roling.

It just amazes me how the officials are giving the American gymnast so low scores, compared to the Chinese. It also amzes me how worried the media and reporters sound when announcing and event. It's almost as if they are scared that if they mention the Chinese fraud on the age of their women(children) gymnast or any negativity towards China, that they might end up in a Chinese labor camp. To me this seems like the same ole Communist Red China and coupled with Mr. Putin's BS, we have the Cold War all over again. The United States versus the Communist. Maybe we should quit exporting wheat or sharge double the price of a bushel of wheat compared to the cost of a barrel of oil. Just a thought. Maybe the US should just bring all their troops home from all over the world and quit importing or exporting anything. This would bring the world to its knees in a short time. Thank you for your time

Georgian President, Saakashvili failed PhyEd classes in his shool years because of his obesity. The teacher might not like him, either. He hated sports. So he opened fire on the opening day of Olympics in attempt to subortage the Olympic sports, randomly to innocent people. He didn't mean to attack Russians (nah, he couldn't be that stupid). He could have occupied Beijing instead. Somehow the Chinese got away from it (Dann! Those Chinese.). The history is always like that. I heard that all Hitler wanted was to go to an art school and become an artist ..., blah, blah, blah. What was Saakashvili's major while schooling in America? Arts too? Did he drive Taxi while in the school, as well?

Anyho, this Chinese ZSL92 Wheeled Armoured Vehicle looks like a toy in front of the Georgian T-72s! Could have been real easy! Dann. Saakashvili ain't right. He missed it!

the chinese simply can't win with western media. if security was lax, western gov'ts would be quick to blame china for any untoward incident. now that security is tight, the press is complaining. lets give it to the chinese authorities for once, its hard enough to maintain peace in a country of 1.3 billion people how much more carry on day to day activities with several hundred thousand tourists and thousands of "hard to please" journalists.

Lou, you are right. The Chinese did not know English and never read his little stories flattering them here and there. Or the security is really poor and they could not pick him up. A hint that they did not notice him - the penis is still on the menu.

The Chinese is an isolated nation and they need to learn English. Or they will end up as the Hispanics here. 1/4 of Lancasterans (Pennsylvania) get befuddled because they don't want to learn English.

I think this article is a bit tongue-in-cheek. Seeing the title of the article as "Subtle Security in Beijing", opening the article, and seeing a tank-like vehicle seems peculiar...

The vehicle is a Chinese-built version (with the turrent and 13mm heavy machine gun) of the Russian (USSR) BTR in one of many versions. It is basically an armored infantry carrier. They have appeared in many versions including this one since the late 1970s. I cannot comment on the strange paint job!

Story is quite clear - the man feels secure & is giving a first-person report.
So he couldn't identify the vehicle. He didn't have to, that wasn't the point of his remarks. To the wags and naysayers - get over it. You're just jealous 'cause he's there and you aren't. And to those who correctly did identify the vehicle without snide remarks . . .. thanks.
